Vaping Just Got an Awareness Month in the UK

by Nick Warrender on April 01, 2018

The UK Vaping Industry Association, which represents most of Britain’s top vaping manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors and retailers, will be taking action after top UK health authorities urged people who smoke to consider using e-cigarettes instead.

Smoking traditional cigarettes kills around 100k people in Britain every year. While rates are falling across the 9 million people across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, health authorities and the vaping industry are hoping the numbers fall even further as many people find that using e-cigarettes is one of the most effective ways to finally kick the habit.

“I’m delighted to be joining forces with the UK Vaping Industry Association to launch VApril, the UK’s first ever vaping education and awareness campaign. I personally believe vaping has overwhelming potential to help smokers break their habit, and this is important because stopping smoking is the single most significant step that people can make to improve their health.” – Dr. Christian Jessen.

Will you take the VApril Challenge?

There are three ways this campaign is approaching increased awareness:

  1. Drop into a Vaping Masterclass.

Drop into a Vaping Masterclass anytime between the 3rd – 30th April at specialist vaping stores in cities across the UK. The masterclass will include:

  • An introduction to the range of devices and flavors on the market;
  • Expert advice on the ideal starter products based on smoking habits: from social and light to average and heavy cigarette usage
  1. Receive your free 6-page Vapril guide.

The UK Vaping Industry Association has produced a special guide for first time vapers, Vape to break the smoking habit, which provides lots of great advice and information on:

  • The best way to make the transition from smoker to vaper
  • The different nicotine strengths to select in line with your smoking habits
  • The range of devices on the market to use at different stages in your vaping journey from ‘vaping first timers’ to ‘vaping veterans’
  • The different components that make up a vape device
  • 5 vaping facts to encourage you to quit smoking
  1. Be social.

Tell them about your VApril experience by posting your thoughts, pics and videos on:

“This will be the largest campaign ever run by the vaping industry and reflects how far the sector has come in a relatively short period of time,” Dr. Jessen said. “The challenge for the industry, government and the public health community is to get across the message that e-cigarettes are a very small risk compared to smoking and that nearly 3 million smokers are now vaping, with a significant number having switched over altogether. VApril aims to be the starting point for more smokers to quit their habit.”

Unlike in the US and elsewhere, Britain is at the front of recommending people hooked on cigarettes to start using e-cigarettes instead. This is because studies have come to the conclusion that “e-cigarettes are likely to be beneficial to UK public health.” In addition, vaping presents almost none of the risks to human health that using vaporizers, e-cigarettes, and their accessories does. There are also none of the thousands of toxic chemicals released from burning tobacco, such as the at least 70 known to be carcinogenic.

Vapril will open the eyes of many smokers across the UK, and hopefully across the world. That’s why we here at Lifted Liquids are helping spread the word. Will the US launch it’s own awareness month for the vaping industry? We hope so. What do you think? How will you get involved with Vapril? We’d love to hear it across our social media.
